Discuss your initial thoughts on Amir, our narrator, so far in the story. Describe him. In addition, how do you feel about how he views his father and how he views/treats Hassan?
I think that even if it's understandable, he is kind of selfish and self-centered. He is quite spoiled by his father in every way but in love. Amir is a skinny young boy in Afghanistan with only his servant as friend.
Amir's biggest idol is his father. He both loves and hates him. Loves him because he simply is his dad. Hates him because he obviously favorites his son's servant over his own son.
Amir treats Hassan kinda crappy sometimes but they are still friends, even though he says that they are not.
Amir is a nice kid, but turned out nothing really like his dad at all. He views his father as a really great man and how he can never live up to his father. He likes Hassan, but he knows that Hassan is a lower class than him.
Amir, our narrator, in the story so far is some what of a selfish boy. He does not like how his father Baba likes Hassan. He wants Baba to like him but he is not into the same things that Baba also enjoys. Amir really likes his father, but he wants him to appreciate him more. Amir does not treat Hassan very well. He will not play with him with other children around and does not claim him as his friend. He is also jealous of Hassan because Baba treats him like his own son, and Amir does not like it because he is there servant.
I think what we learned about Amir already is his jealousy for Hassan and his want for admiration from his father. I think he secretly admires Hassan for his athleticism and stoicism. Also, Amir is great at writing stories, which tells us that he has an imagination. Amir desperately wants to get his father's attention and approval. He feels like his father pays more attention to Hassan and plays favorites with him as well. Since Hassan is Hazara, poor, and not even Baba's son, Amir feels that he should get less attention from him. Amir is pretty detached from his father from what he's been showing and telling.
To me, Amir seems like a typical trouble making little kid. He seem to want some sort of respect or acknowledgment from his father but can never seem to get it. He loves his father and he strains to be like him. I think that although his father shows little attention towards him Amir's father actually loves him deeply because Amir is all that remains of his mother. Hassan is Amir's best friend. I think that Amir might exploit Hassan too much but they get along very well.
Amir grows up under his rich and prominent father Baba and is a member of the Pashtun, the majority group in Afghanistan. He lives alongside Ali and Hassan, the families servants who just so happen to be members of the Hazara, Afghanistan's minority group. Hassan and Amir are similar in age and get along quite well. He is a friendly human being and enjoys reading books, compared to boys his age wanting to hunt and play soccer. He thinks his father doesn't care about him and it crushes his feelings. On the other hand, he gets along great with Hassan. He is teaching him how to read and stands up for his friend when Assef, Wali and Kamal try to attack them.
Amir is a rich kid who doesn't see all the bad things in life and how people are treated differently because of there social status. He keeps to him self kind of a nerd who reads a lot and doesn't have a lot of friends. Amir doesn't think his father loves him he thinks his father doesn't want anything to do with him because he's not into sports like his father is. Amir treats Hassan like a friend but doesn't view him as a friend, he views him as a guy who would back him up in a fight, they hangout and do things together but Amir is a rich kid who gets a lot and goes to school and Hassan is poor and cant afford school and has to stay and help his father work during the day.
My Initial thoughts on Amir is that he is a typical son of a wealthy man. He is given most of everything he wants, but his father stills lacks to show affectionate love towards Amir. Amir on the outside is kinda self centered, but deep down I think he really cares for Hassan. He treats Hassan differently than he would a normal friends because I think deep down he is jealous of the attention his father gives him. I feel like the only thing Amir cares about right now is the approval of his father
Amir is a self centered kid. He thinks about himself a lot, and gets upset with his father and Hassan. I feel bad for him a little though because his father seems to ignore him and he gets no attention. Amir loves poetry and writing, which shows that he might have other traits that his father is not into. This shows that he has an imagination. I think that Amir is jealous of Hassan, because he tries so hard to get his fathers attention, and Baba seems to like Hassan more than Amir. Amir just wants to feel close to his father, and he wants Baba in his life more than what he is now.
I'd say Amir is a pretty nice kid. He has everything given to which kinda makes him not understand other peoples problems, but overall he seems to do well. His father is understandably frustrated with the way Amir acts as they are not similar at all. Amir treats Hassan like a friend, but he treats Hassan's ignorance for stupidity sometimes which is a real jerk move if you ask me.
Even though Amir is born in a rich family, and has everything, I think of him as a friendly person. He treats his servants Ali and Hassan well, and also treats Hassan as his own friend and cares about him. Amir and Hassan have grown up together and have enjoyed life together and nothing was ever going to tear them apart. Amir enjoys reading books to Hassan because he knows that he can't read and Hassan appreciates what he does. I feel as if Amir's his father does not want him. His father is never willing to talk about what Amir wants to talk about or read the story he wrote. Amir is sometimes jealous of Hassan, because his father treats him well more than he treats Amir. In Amir's eyes, his father treats Hassan more like his son than Amir. His father buys him gifts for his birthday and always ask Amir if Hassan would like to go along wherever Amir and his dad are going. In my opinion, I feel that Amir is not getting enough attention from his dad. His dad should treat Amir more like his own son than Hassan.
I think Amir is just a shy friendly boy. Even though his father is rich he isn't necessarly "popular" and he is still picked on by the neighborhood kids. Amir idolizes his father. but his father sees him as something he has to put up with.
Amir is a kid raised by a wealthy family. Amir just thinks about himself. Amir likes having talks with his father, Baba but is kind of afraid to talk to him sometimes. Baba just ignores him and doesn't let him in the adult room. Amir loves reading to Hassen, writing and reading books. Amir's father loved watching and playing soccer, which was opposite of Amir. Baba sometimes thought he wasn't his own child. Amir views his dad as a rolemodel, but is not like him at all. Amir treats Hassen like more than a friend, he is protective of him and played with him in his free time.
Amir feels that his father needs to accept him more. He acts like he hates her son just because he has more of his mothers interest then him. Amir's father is very mean and seems very self-centered. He treats his servants very well.
I think Amir is kind of a coward. He, himself, knows that him and Hassan are like brothers. He treats him as a little brother of his, and so does Baba. So what I don't understand is why Amir doesn't stick up for Hassan, why he doesn't let anyone else know they're friends. Amir views his father almost like a god. He considers him to be wealthy and powerful, because he is. He knows his father isn't impressed with how he turned out. He feels like Baba is upset to have him as a son. Amir also feels like Baba favors Hassan sometimes. He doesn't know why, but this makes him feel really guilty. Amir believes Hassan is his friend, but also doesn't want the rest of Kabul to know that. I think that is selfish.
Amir seems to be a nice kid but he is spoiled therefore he doesn't understand the true problems of the other people. His father is very frustrated with the way Amir acts because they are in no way alike. he treats Hassen as a friend although he misinterprets some of the things he says for stupidity. all in all Amir is a nice kid he just needs better guidance to become an even nicer one.
Amir appears to be self centered, and spoiled. He complains about having to get up in the mornings to go to school, while Hazzan wakes up long before Amir does in order to cater to his and his father's needs. Amir appears to be kind of shy around others. The neighborhood kids bullies him, but he never fights back. Amir idolizes his father, but is intimated by Baba. His father treats Amir as something of a burden, because Amir has more of his mother's interests and talents. Amir plays mean tricks on Hazzan sometimes, but they treat each other as close friends even though Amir says Hazzan is simply his servant.
Amir is a kid that grew up in a wealthy family. He loves his father a lot but his father doesn't love him or at least doesn't show that he does. Amir looks up to his dad a lot. Baba shows more love and affection towards Hassan and Amir gets mad. I believe that Hassan and Amir get along pretty good. Amir doesn't really think of them being friends he sees them as more than friends kind of like brothers. Amir likes to make fun of Hassan sometimes but he doesn't really mean it and makes up for it later. He also likes to read to Hassan.
Amir is kind to many people, but he may come of spoiled. He does not realize what other people go through. Amir treats Hazzan as a brother, but makes Hazzan take the blame for everything and he sticks up for him all the time. Amir views his father as upper-class person. He knows he is wealthy and powerful. His father on the other hand views Amir as a burden. He said that if he did not see Amir come out of his wife, he would not believe that Amir is his song.
I think that Amir is a really nice guy even though he was raised by a wealthy family. He treats everyone with great respect. He treats Hassan the best because he cares for him and they are best friends. Hassan has trouble reading and Amir helps him and reads to him. I feel bad that Amir's father is mean to him and I think he is jealous that he treats Hassan better.
Amir seems to be a nice kid, but he is spoiled and he dose not realize what is happening between the Pashtun and the Hazara. Amir never really turned out the way his dad wanted, but Amir sill looks to his dad as his idol. He likes Hassan as his friend, but he does realize that Hassan is lower class.
Amir is a very wealthy kid that gets away and does anything he wants to. Amir is very friendly to everyone and I think he is a good kid. Amir always reads to Hassan because he knows he doesn't have an education and can't read. Amir's father does not really like that they are friends because he is the servant. Amir also loves talking to his dad, baba, but baba does not really give him the time of day. I think that Amir might be jealous of Hassan because of his relationship with his father but we will see more of what happens in the chapters to come.
In my opinion, I feel that Amir is a decent kid and I do not blame him for feeling left out. However, he act like a rich kid at times. Amir looks up to Baba and just wants attention. I do not think Baba treats him like his son. Amir treats Hassan like more than just a friend, however there is jealousy there.
Amir is a good friend and pretty smart. He likes to read everything and likes to show it off a little. He is a good friend to Hassan by always sticking up for him and always being their for him. Amir also helps out Hassan with things he needs help with, and is always by his side. Amir and his father don't have the best relationship because he doesn't think Amir is like any of the other kids and likes different things than his dad. His father like soccer but Amir likes to read more and this is why his father doesn't like him as much. Amir tries to get attention from his dad but it never really works out.
amir, hes a boss he may not be like his dad like he doesn't have all the same traits and qualities but he his inteligient because he reads and stuff. I think baba should be there for him more just because they don't act the same doesn't mean hes not his kid.
Amir is a smart kid that enjoys writing and reading, not soccer and hunting. Amir looks up to his father Baba, and thinks he is a great man.He wishes his father would accept him for who he is and show him more affection. Amir also resents his father a little bit because he is fond of Hassan. He is a good friend to Hassan, but deep down he sees him as his servant. Amir feels guilty about this bout does not try to change.
Amir cares about his friend Hassan. He is a caring person. He likes his father but his father has disabilities that Amir doesn't understand. He tries to find out way others make fun of his father.
Amir is a shy person. He thinks his father doesn't want to accept him. He thinks Hazzan is his servant even though they treat each other as friends. Amir has the same interest and talents as his mother.
My thoughts on Amir would are he is a very respectable person. He treats Hassan really good by sticking up for him even though he's Hazaran. Amir's family is very wealthy and he gets away with anything he wants. He still isn't sure what happened between the Pashtun and Hazara but he knows the Pashtun killed the Hazara. Amir is different than his father and his father wishes he was more like him.
My opinion on Amir is that he is a nice kid. His father does not like him or does not want to see him. Amir acts like he is a very rich person at times. Some people are jealous because they think that he cam from a wealthy family. His father is a big fan of soccer and he is more of a kid that will sit down and read a book. He tries to get a lot of attention but sometimes it does not work.
Amir is a good kid. He knoews what he wants but gets confused trying to be accepted by his father Baba. His father is more masculine than Amir who enjoys petry and reading. He knows Hassan is his servant but he treats him as a good friend and sticks up for him as Hassan sticks up for Amir. Amir can be at times a rich stuck up kid, and makes fun out of Hassan. But deep down he knows Hassan is his best friend.
In my opinion, Amir is a really nice kid. He is jealous in a way of Hassan, because Baba acts really nice towards Hassan, but he doesn't show much interest in Amir himself. Baba is the more athletic type, unlike Amir who is really studious and into the books, like his mother was. Hassan is more the athletic type as well. Amir almost acts like he is too good as times, like he pretends to be someone who he is not. He's almost selfish and really uses being rich as his way of getting what he wants. He treats Hassan poorly when Hassan is not around, talking bad about him, even though at the end of the day he knows Hassan is definitely his best buddy he has.
My opinion on Amir is that he is shy because he does not feel accepted by his father. Baba his father is completely different than Amir and that seems to bother his. Baba treats Hassan like another son and that can bother Amir too. Baba gives Hassan gifts and I believe it makes Amir think that Hassan may be liked more at certain times.
In my opinion is a smart kid that is good at writing and reading. He is the opposite of his father who is good and loves sports. Amir looks up to his father Baba, but is jealous of the way he takes care of Hassan. Baba took care of Hassans clift lip. Baba does not respect his son Amir. Baba takes much more care of Hassan than Amir and Amir does not like that because Hassan is his best friend and he is Amirs servant.
Amir has grown up in a wealthy family. He hasn't had to worry about many conflicts. Amir is finding it hard to be accepted by his father. His father was sporty and athletic, however Amir is more into the books and his studies. Amir may blame himself for his mothers death and that may be why Amir thinks his dad resents him. Amir thinks of Hassan as a brother rather hen his servants son. In other way though Amir secretly hates Hassan, because Bubba favors Hassan in several different ways. For example, Hassan's birthday present of plastic surgery. Amir wishes his father would do things like that for him.
Amir has grown up as a wealthy child, he grew up with Hassan as more of a brother then a servants son. He is more of a shy kid who likes to read, which is hard for his father to accept, because he was sporty and athletic. Amir loves Hassan but he is secretly jealous of him to because of how his father favorites Hassan compared to him. Baba sees himself more in Hassan actions than his own son. Amir also believes his father blames him for his mother's death. Amir and Baba have a complicated relationship.
Amir is a smart kid who loves to wright and read. Amir is jealous of Hassan because of how Baba ( his father) treats Hassan better than Amir. Amir as a kid was extremely shy.
I believe that Amir has a lot of growing up and learning to do. He's given everything and he does as he pleases. Hassan is his only true friend because he is the only one who truly knows Amir. Amir wants his father to notice him in everything he does and appreciate him like Amir does to his father. Baba pays more attention and pays more affection towards Hassan because in Baba's eyes, Hassan is more like him than his own son.
Amir is a very selfish and self-centered kid. He is also not a very good friend. Amir strives to impress his father, but because of his love of reading and writing, he is not an athletic child like his father wishes him to be. Amir believes that his father loathes him because his mother died while giving birth to him.
Amir is a kid that has a conflict between wanting to be a good friend, and trying to be a good son to his father. He tries to play with Hissan with no boundaries but with where he is and whats expected for his actions and feelings to be like weigh against what he wants to do.
Amir is a weak child with no self confidence and has a lot of growing to do. Amir would not be the best friend to have he can be mean and negative. He enjoys reading and writing and will do anything for his father.
Amir is a kid that likes to write and read, but turned out nothing really like his dad. He sees his father as a really great man. He can't never live up to his father. He likes Hassan because he works hard, but he knows that Hassan is a lower class.
I think that even if it's understandable, he is kind of selfish and self-centered. He is quite spoiled by his father in every way but in love.
